The Ancient Art of Kansa Crafting
Kansa making is an intricate art form that dates back to the Vedic period. At Bell Arts India, we preserve this legacy through a painstaking process known as 'heating and beating'.
- It begins with melting pure Copper and Tin in a specific ratio (78:22) at extreme temperatures.
- The molten alloy is then poured into ingots and repeatedly heated and hammered by skilled artisans to shape it.
- This laborious process aligns the molecular structure of the metal, making it durable and resonant.
- Finally, the utensil is hand-polished with sand and tamarind juice to give it a distinct golden glow.
